Shay McCarthy broke the U20M 100m club record in a time of 11.4s while competing in the southern mens at Salisbury. Shay, through hard work and determination has made great improvement this year.
And not forgetting our senior Athletes as Mark Roach V40 set a new record in the 110MH in 20.6
Also Martyn Elkins a new Senior Discus record with 36.87m

6th June South West League
3 new league records
some fantastic achievements made at Exeter, Elizabeth Hood U13G ran a great race to set a new League record in the 1500M in a time of 5:01.2
Gabby Rowsell U17W also set a new league record in the 300mH in 44.1s and places her 3rd in the UK and Andrew Elkins U20M set a new league record in the Hammer with a distance of 61.18m Both Gabby and Andrew also set new club records.
Charlie Patrick was not letting Shay get all the glory in the 100m as he equaled the U20m record 11.4s set by shay the day before.
Steffi Wilson U17W had a great day setting new club records in both the 100m12.5s and 200m in 25.5s
A big Thank you goes to all of you who took part and lent a helping hand, it is good to have such a great group of young people willing to show flexibility and trying their best in everything they do.

London Mini Marathon

In the Boys 15-17 Frank Bailey was 11th

Adam Sloan was 32nd,

In the Girls 13-14 Grace Howie was 18th

and in the Wheelchair Daniel Cook was 5th.

World Schools Cross Country

Melissa Courtney

 has been selected to run in the World Schools Cross Country on 19th April in Slovakia. Melissa was selected to run for England Athletics last January in Elgoibar Northern Spain where
she finished 4th in her debut as a Junior Women International (U20).

There are only 2 teams U18's 6 male and
 6 female athletes selected from all over England.

What a way for Melissa to finish her cross country season

National Indoor Championships at Birmingham 27 February 2010

Poole AC members were prominent in 2 National competitions this Saturday, with proud of place going to Adam Carpenter who smashed his Pole Vault personal best to take 3rd in the U20 The South of England Champion achieved 4.60M in his first year as a U20 Vaulter.
Alex Lee was 4th in his heat of the Indoor 60M Hurdles improving his PB by 0.15s to 8.47s and just missing out on a fastest loser spot to the final with the 8th fastest time recorded.


National XC Roundhay Park 27 February 2010

A dozen athletes ventured north to Leeds with many experiencing the pinnacle of the XC Calendar for the first time.
Poole celebrated 2 top10 finishers with brilliant finishing strength resulting in Elisabeth Hood finishing 5th U13 Girl just one second behind the bronze medalist.

Melissa Courtney again performed well in a very strong U17 field finishing 7th, with Adam Sloan having his best race of the winter in 20th in the U17 Men.
All the girls acquitted themselves really well on a challenging but top quality course and our 2 senior men ensured our clubs involvement in the big race of the day.

Well done to Lauren Colbert, Sam Cash, Alex Bourne, Connor Wright, Lewis Shepherd, Michael Cornes and Tom Freeman on some fine performances

Sunday 17 January 10

Grace Howie claimed a bronze medal in her first event as an under 17 in the 1500M with a time of 4:56:01 at the SEAA. Indoor Championships at Lee Valley Melissa Courtney (16:09) prepared for her first race for England in Spain next week by winning the UK challenge at Cardiff, she was ably backed up by Abi Jones(17:12) in 11th and Africa mason (18:07) in 16th

Adam Sloan finished 9th (19:47) in a high quality U17 men’s race
In the U13 girls Elisabeth hood was a fine 7th (10:10) close behind was Emma Butterworth in 11th (10:27) and Rebecca Warrington was in 18th (11:06)

SEAA Indoor championship
Lee Valley Sunday 10 January 10

Melissa Courtney was a fine second (2:17.89) in the U20 800m final and in doing so has earned herself an England call up to represent her country in Spain on Sunday 24th January.
